Crown College Softball
I have been wanting to go watch Miss Abbie Carroll play softball since she started college. It has never worked out do to other obligations or Covid or life in general. This year it looked like it was finally going to work, good thing since she is a senior. (She has 27 days left as she happily informed me.) Bonus - Chase was going to meet me in Mankato.
Soooo - as usual life happens. Chase had motorcycle safety and couldn't reschedule. I thought about not going as it would be just me but decided it was Abbie's last year and I really wanted to see a game. SO glad I did. Although the games might not have ended the way they like, it was great to watch Abbie pitch and catch up with Dave and Kellie.
After the games I headed for home. Earlier this year I bought myself a Minnesota Hop Passport - basically a guide to MN craft brewers (along with a few in Iowa and South Dakota - so far we have only used in South Dakota...). For participating breweries you get a stamp and a two for one beer. So I stopped in at Lost Sanity Brewing in Madelia on the way to get my first Minnesota stamp. Very cool little brewery. I think it is worth a stop back with Kurt.
My great bartender at Lost Sanity asked where I was headed next and I said just on my way home and not another brewery along the way. She recommended Sleepy Eye Brewing. I had thought about stopping here but was it is back north so out of the way. But as Kurt well knows, after a couple beers I am usually ready to try more. As she said it was only about a half hour away I decided to head for Sleepy Eye. I knew there was a decent hotel there so off I went.
Checked in to the hotel and no more driving at this point. It was a bit of a walk but I needed the steps anyways. Again, a neat little bar. It actually used to be a theater. It was getting later on a Saturday night (okay, maybe 7:00 but that's getting late for me) the bar was getting busy. It was a fun time to just sit back and people watch. Had some good beers, just okay pretzel and cheese, and great people watching.
A much shorter walk back to the hotel (at least it seemed that way - maybe it was the good beers) and calling it a night. I wasn't so sure about this night away alone but I actually had a good time. Spent too much as no one along to tell my knock it off - but my motto - it's vacation money, doesn't count!

Dont you know it's not good to drink alone????
