Dubuque to Waterloo

This morning, we set out for breakfast at the Foodie Garage just around the corner. Despite the posted hours indicating they should have been open, it was closed. Not in the mood to walk elsewhere, we returned to our rental and settled for a granola bar and grapes, told Kurt I would take him for an early lunch. Had to check out of the rental today. It was a great place, I would stay again if in the area!

Headed for Galena, IL. It is only about 30 minutes from Dubuque. Downtown Galena is basically just 4 or 5 blocks full of shops, restaurants, and bars. We walked around for just a bit and headed for some lunch. We went to Durty Gurt's. I was in the mood for a good burger and this place hit the mark. So Good! Kurt had a 'Shut the Front Door' burger. It had donuts for buns. He said it was pretty good.

We wandered town for a couple hours. Highlights were a cigar/man shop, Popcorn store, Flashback, the Canning Store, and Rootbeer Revelry. At the rootbeer shop we were able to get a flight of rootbeer and sample 5 different beers. They were all great. I loved it - they were all good and just a little different. I was tempted to get a rootbeer float too but thought my samples should be enough.

Starting to get tired so back to car and headed out. Wasn't sure where our destination was for the night so got through Dubuque and stopped at the 7 Hills Brewery in Dyersville to figure out a plan (and they are in my Hop Passport). Decided to just get to Waterloo and relax for the night. Booked out hotel and hit the road again.
Arrived at the Country Inn Waterloo around 4:30. Not super impressed with the hotel, it is a bit rundown. Our room is HUGE but awkward. Good thing it's just for one night.
Went to LJ's Neighborhood Bar & Grill for a bite to eat. I just had the nachos and they were very good. Back to the hotel for an early night.
Vacation is starting to wear me out but another good day!
