Family Day
This morning, we all slept in a little. After getting ready, we went to Hovie's Grill for breakfast. Kurt and I enjoyed the French Toast, which was very good! Chase opted for the chocolate chip pancakes.
First stop on today's itinerary was the Minnesota Vikings Museum. Was a neat little place, small but interesting as a Vikings fan.
Wandered the gift shop for a while. Found a couple things but nothing in my size so passed. We got Kurt a t-shirt. As we were getting ready to go it just started pouring. That was not in the forecast! So we headed to Bald Man Brewing to wait out the rain. I wanted to stop here anyways just because of the name!
Thankfully was just a quick passing shower so we were off to Minnehaha Falls. I do not believe I have been here before. I was quite impressed, they were beautiful! Pictures don't do it justice!
I found this sign quite amusing!
We were able to find what I am pretty sure was an unofficial entrance down to the trail as it was quite steep and a bit sketchy. But we made it, and got some cool pictures!
Walked along the river below the falls. There were a couple stone bridges across and the sides of the river were built up with stone work too. I would like to look into the history on when, why, how this was done sometime.
We were ready for some food after the Falls so went to Market at Malcolm Yards next. It's basically a fancy food court. You check in and get a key card that you scan at the different restaurants. They also had a pour wall with different craft brews along with some wine options and a bar for mixed drinks. There were maybe about 10 restaurant options. Kurt opted for a burger and Chase had a birria beef quesadilla and chips and salsa. I had a Lomito sandwich, I guess it's from Argentina? It had chicken, ham, lettuce, swiss, and came with Chipotle aioli. It was quite tasty!
When it was time to head back towards the hotel it was rush hour. So on Google maps I found a route that avoided the highways as much as I could. We ended up on a really nice drive along the river. Couldn't see much of the river on the drive but the houses were amazing!
Once we got back we decided to just relax the rest of the evening. We walked to the gas station and got some sodas and stopped at McDonald's for some ice cream. Chase and I played some Garbage and Pennies and Kurt flipped through the channels.
Ended the evening with a movie in bed. A great family day!
